About This Project

These images were created and captured from a very dysfunctional piece of photo lab printing equipment. Machine Obscura is titled as a nod to a Camera Obscura, a darkened box or room with a lens that projects an image onto a screen inside. While Camera Obscura is an important piece of photographic history Machine Obscura was a very broken thing, often times spontaneously capturing pictures of it’s inside on light sensitive paper. The result was beautifully organic and mechanical accidents sent from a dying piece of equipment.
